Joanna L. Sarracino, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma diagnosis, lasers and microsurgery.

After growing up in New Jersey, Dr. Sarracino attended the University of Virginia and graduated with distinguished honors in music.  She then graduated from medical school at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.  Dr. Sarracino moved across the country to California to complete ophthalmology residency at Stanford University Medical Center and glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.  She was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology under the fellowship of the renowned Drs. Joseph Caprioli, Anne Coleman, and Simon Law.Dr. Sarracino was in private practice in Palo Alto, California for five years and was an assistant Clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University prior to returning to the East coast.  She was thrilled to return to the East and move to Connecticut, to be closer to family.

Her practice incorporates the latest diagnostic and treatment modalities such as the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT).  In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Sarracino has contributed to research in glaucoma surgery.  She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society.
